Short History

   The beginning of the Club is linked to the first meeting of the group of Polish enthusiasts who on 22 December 1981 elected a management committee of the organisation named “Polski Centralny Ośrodek Sportowo – Rekreacyjny” (Polish Sport and Recreation Centre). Mr Mieczysław Żurek became the first President.

4 August 1984 – organisation bought a land in Albion; 7.5ha at the 19 Carrington Drive

10 August 1984 – registration of the “Polish Sporting, Recreation and Community Association Inc”

June 1987 – first foundations were laid for the construction of the primary building

12 November 1988 – Construction site blessed by the Polish Archbishop Cardinal Jozef Glemp

14 April 1991 – completed club building was blessed by the Rector of the Polish Catholic Mission, Father Stanislaw Wrona

13 December 1992 – pre-opening by Mayor of Sunshine Marion Martin

21 March 1993 – official opening by the Premier of Victoria Jeff Kennett

21 March 2013 – 20 years Anniversary 

     The Polish Club Albion/ Dom Polski Albion, located in Albion, western suburb of Melbourne, Australia, also known as the Polish Sporting, Recreation and Community Association Inc, was established in 1984 and officially operates from the current premises since 1993. Our aim is to promote and foster Polish culture, language, habits and traditions in Australia as well as support and provide sporting and social activities.

gate200We support activities of Polish organisations and community groups. We are the central hub for the biggest Polish Soccer Club in Melbourne “Western Eagles”, Billiard Club, Bridge Club, Zumba Fitness and Polish Senior Citizens Club.

The Polish Club in Albion is open to everyone. This is a great place, where in the friendly Polish atmosphere members take care of family, friends and business associates.

Other ethnic groups like Eritreans and Pakistanis are organising on our Club’s facilities their annual festivals attended by many thousands of participants.

You are invited to come and join us or to enjoy our favourite Polish meals in our restaurant at very reasonable rates. A range of Polish and Australian beers and other spirits are available at the bar. Club rooms are available for hire for family functions, community events or business purposes.

The Club is open daily, except Tuesdays, from 12pm to 8pm
